Renowned film and commercial director, the late Yasmin Ahmad, and cartoonist Datuk Lat were announced as among the six 1Malaysia icons by the Perak government at the launching of the state-level 1Malaysia With The People programme here tonight.

Yasmin Ahmad, the highly-acclaimed Malaysian film producer and director, may be gone but the tributes keep pouring in.

This year's Australian Malaysian Film Festival (AMFF) from Oct 4 to 7, at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Federation Square, here, pays tribute to the memory of Malaysian filmmaking legend Yasmin Ahmad.

Award-winning director Yasmin Ahmad did a non-commercial advertisement entitled “Tan Hong Ming In Love” two years ago.

Yasmin Ahmad left a legacy of her works in the film and advertisement arenas, thriving on the themes of love, family ties and comedy against the backdrop of multiracial Malaysia.
