Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has reminded Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to work harder for the people, saying there are already signs that the "blue wave" is rising.
PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat has admitted that the drastic drop in the majority votes obtained by the party in the Manik Urai by-election Tuesday was because the voters were influenced by Barisan Nasional's (BN) development promises.
The federal government will continue with its plans to provide infrastructure in Manik Urai despite losing the by-election for the state constituency Tuesday.
Although the Barisan Nasional (BN) failed to capture the seat, the result of the by-election was most encouraging, more so because the by-election took place in the Malay heartland, he said.
As widely anticipated, UMNO has been unable to turn the tide in the just concluded Manik Urai by-election. However, the party has outperformed itself compared to last year's general elections, losing only by a very thin margin of 65 votes!
PAS' victory in the Manik Urai by-election by only 65 votes indicates that a large section of voters in the state constituency want development and attention from the Barisan Nasional
government.
