Elections 2008 Hot Seats Results

Malaysia's ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition has suffered a major election setback by winning only a simple parliamentary majority. The ruling coalition was left reeling Saturday (8 Feb) from shock defeats following a general election in which it appeared to have lost control of several states, including Penang and Kedah. Selangor and Perak were also lost, according to estimates by the opposition.

The Barisan Nasional will form the next Government as it has won more than half the parliamentary seats. (updated 2pm, 9 Mar)

As at 2.25am, the opposition won 80 parliamentary seats and has successfully denied BN's 2/3 majority.
