Malaysia: Ruling Coalition Suffers Poll Debacle

Malaysia's ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition has suffered a major election setback by winning only a simple parliamentary majority. The ruling coalition was left reeling Saturday (8 Feb) from shock defeats following a general election in which it appeared to have lost control of several states, including Penang and Kedah. Selangor and Perak were also lost, according to estimates by the opposition.
