Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak said the new state government will continue to support the 25th Malaysian Chinese Cultural Festival but was unsure whether it could have enough financial support.
He expressed his support to the Malaysian Chinese Cultural Festival but admitted the coalition State Government formed by PAS and PKR has limited financial strength unlike the previous state government of BN that could easily promise RM200,000 appropriation to show its support to the festival.
He said that the state government appreciates the support given by Chinese voters and it is ready to listen to the people's voices including trying to get the Kedah Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (FeCAM) to help.
Although it could not provide the RM200,000 the state government can still give some assistance. Maybe we can provide one hundred thousand. In short, we will try to help within our ability, said Azizan.
Azizan said he knew that the Chinese community strongly opposes the rise in property tax and he actually supported the review group.
He said PAS will hope to see all Chinese associations unite under the Kedah FeCAM so they can join the state government to develop Kedah together. (Sin Chew Daily)
