Malaysia: Selangor BN Will Play Opposition Role, Says Khir

SHAH ALAM, MALAYSIA: Selangor Barisan National (BN) will play opposition role as watchdog to ensure the new coalition government fulfils its promises made during the elections, says State BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo.

He said that Selangor BN will assist the new coalition government to collect related information and assist them in implementing their promises.

He broke his silence for the first time after the elections to talk about future plans of Selangor BN at a press conference Tuesday (11 Mar) night at the Selangor Umno building.

Dr Khir said the state BN will pass the regime to the new state government in a peaceful manner.

He said the new state government promised in the elections that patients above 65 years old will be exempted from medical fees, free education for every students and single mothers will get all necessary assistance.

Dr Khir added that the new state government should also reduce home assessment fee.

He also denied that the state BN had tried to woo Parti Islam Se-Malaysia assemblymen to gain a simple majority. (Sin Chew Daily)
