Shamsubahrin paid RM1.5m for non-consultation services, court told

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 6 (Bernama) -- The Sessions Court here heard today that businessman Datuk Shamsubahrin Ismail who is accused of cheating National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) former director Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail, did not provide any consultation services for the NFC.

NFC chief executive officer Wan Shahinur Izmir Mohamad Salleh, testifying as the 37th prosecution witness, said throughout the end of 2011 until mid-2012 that he knew Shamsubahrin, he did not see the RM1.5 million paid to the latter being used for the stated purposes.

"I did not see the payment being used for consultation services that Datuk Sham (Shamsubahrin) mentioned," he said during the examination-in-chief by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) prosecution unit head Datuk Abdul Razak Musa.

According to the witness, the accused had also said that the money would be used to pay the sub-contractor, legal expert and to buy financial software and for other consultation matters.

Shamsubahrin is facing 17 charges of money laundering totalling RM1.755 million and five charges of cheating Mohamad Salleh of the same amount.

The trial before Judge Rozilah Salleh continues on March 14 and 15.
