Robebrs escape with RM190,000 from ATM machine in petrol station

SHAH ALAM, Jan 26 (Bernama) -- A gang of robbers escaped with RM190,000 from an automated teller machine (ATM) after breaking into a petrol station in Section 28, Taman Alam Megah, here, today.

Shah Alam Police Chief ACP Zahedi Ayop said a petrol station worker realised what had happened early this morning after seeing the back door of the station pried open and the padlock cut.

Zahedi said police received a report on the incident at 7.20am and investigations revealed that one of the three ATM machines in the station had been broken into with about RM190,000 missing.

"There were tampered marks on two other ATMs but the robbers failed to take any money," he told reporters here today.

Zahedi said police believed more than one suspect was involved in the robbery and that police were investigating the case under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
