SEREMBAN, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- All public housing flats, which usually associated with uncomfortable atmosphere and poor condition, will get a facelift with the implementation of the National Blue Ocean Strategy 7: My Beautiful Neighbourhood project under the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung said the project would be implemented with the concept of minimum cost with maximum results.
He said seven public housing flats in Alor Setar, Ipoh and Johor Baharu had been given the facelift so far this year.
"Here, we have chosen the Lobak flats as the pioneer. The flats have been given a facelift and now turned into a beautiful neighbourhood that the residents can be proud of," he told reporters after the handing-over of the completed project at Lobak flats here today.
He said the project, which involved works to repair and upgrade the drainage system, roads, community halls and beautification of the landscape, was completed in just three months at a cost of RM4 million.
Next year, the project would also be implemented on 18 other public housing flats across the country.
