Pakatan's shadow budget a ploy to confuse people: Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak described the opposition shadow cabinet as a ploy to confuse the people for political gain.

He said the shadow cabinet is a must in the Westminster democracy so that the people can assess to see whether the opposition team is competent or not.

"The opposition shadow cabinet can be disputed from various angles including not involving the participation of all regions and cronyism. They claimed we practice cronyism but when it comes to them, they try to defend it.

"They give contradicting messages. Some claimed it is the shadow cabinet and post onto blogs while others denied saying it is unnecessary and can only form the government after winning general election," he told reporters after chairing Barisan Nasional (BN) Supreme Council meeting at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) tonight.

The BN chairman said the opposition budget did not grab the attention of economic analysts who felt it lacked credibility and sustainability to implement.

"Promises made (in the opposition budget) if implemented, will have adverse impact on the financial stability of the government and confidence in the economy "

Najib said the Supreme Council hopes that implementation of Budget 2013 will be given focus and scrutiny so that the people get full benefit.

The government will explain to the people about 111 touch points in the budget that will be implemented to deliver on the promises made to the people.
