KUANTAN, Aug 28 (Bernama) - A gravedigger was killed after the grave he was digging collapsed and buried him in Kampung Penak, Mentakab this morning.

The freak accident at 10.15am killed Zailan Hamid,40, who was digging a grave with fellow gravedigger Mohd Nasir Musa,40.

Temerloh police acting chief Supt Zundin Mahmood said Zailan died from severe head injuries and a broken neck.

"He was finishing digging when the grave collapsed and buried him. Zailan's friends and residents used their hands to extricate him," he said when contacted here today.

However, Zailan reportedly died shortly after and the body was sent to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital for autopsy.

The grave was meant for Minah Ishak, 76, who died of old age.
