ALOR SETAR, Aug 19 (Bernama) -- A man drowned in an irrigation canal at Kampung Kuala Lanjut near here this morning, after his motorcycle is believed to have skidded and landed in it.

In the 10 am incident, Mohammad Aziz Mehad, 21 and his nephew, Mohammad Khairul Azhar Mohd Saman,3, were on the way to a provision shop.

However, Mohamad Khairul survived the accident without any injuries, as he was saved by members of the public who witnessed the accident.

"They could only save my nephew and not Mohammad Aziz," said Mohammad Nizam, the victim's elder brother, when met at the Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah(HSB) mortuary where the body had been taken to.
