KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Muslims should not be divided and reject unity due to political differences, said Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
He said Muslim disunity could lead to destruction to the detriment of young people as they would eventually lead and spearhead the development of the country.
Hence, she hoped Muslim women could play their role in educating children on the values of unity.
"These values, which can be inculcated from home, can make Malaysia an example of a united and peace-loving Muslim community," she said after taking part in Quran recitation organised by Wanita Umno at the Asy-Syakirin Mosque, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here today.
About 2,000 members of Wanita Umno and non-governmental organisations took part in the Quran recitation led by former woman international Quran recitation champion Sharifah Khasif Syed Badiuzzaman.
