SABAK BERNAM, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today said he does not condone any form of politicising in mosques in the state.
"This covers all political parties regardless of government parties or opposition," he said at the opening of the Kampung Binjai Jaya Mosque, in Sungai Panjang, here.
He wanted the surau and mosque facilities to be preserved, not misused by Muslims but instead make full use of the facilities to enhance religious faith and increase religious activities.
"The mosque is the best place for us to unite," he said.
Sultan Sharafuddin said he does not condone sermons, religious teachings and religious lectures which were held at mosques to include political ideologies, accusations and condemnations among Muslims.
"Such action will create hatred and eventually cause disunity among Muslims, specifically Malays," he added.
Work on the RM5.27 million Kampung Binjay Jaya Mosque started in 2007 and was completed in 2010.
