(Relaxnews) - Athletic-minded women may soon have a high-performance GPS-enabled watch all their own -- one that features a sleek size for smaller wrists, water resistance up to 100m, and an added bonus: a panic button.

"If you've ever been out for a run and suddenly realized that you're alone and no one's around...well, you know that feeling," writes Rachel Sklar on The Huffington Post. "And it is not ‘peace of mind.' It's more like imagining yourself in the cold open of a Law & Order." She adds: "This product is for those times."

While it's certainly a feature you never hope to use, the founders of Bia -- ex-Yahoo vice president, mother of four, and triathlete Cheryl Kellond and Sylvia Marino, formerly of Cisco and Intuit and an open water swimmer -- say a panic button is the number one feature requested by women.

In addition to the panic button, the Bia watch sends data directly to an online training log, features one button and a touch screen, and offers full GPS tracking when you swim. Plus it features an ergonomic design that allows the watch "to nestle between the bones on your wrists, so it won't rub or chafe," adds blogger Salty Running.

Just to be fair, they also offer a men's version with a longer wristband as well as a clip-on GPS Go Stick. On funding platform Kickstarter, you can preorder a watch for $99, should the prototype go into production. Deadline to contribute to the goal ends July 14, 3am EDT.
