DHL opens Asia's biggest shipping hub

SHANGHAI, July 13 (Bernama) -- The world's leading logistics company DHL on Thursday opened its largest express shipping hub in Asia at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Xinhua news agency reported.

The DHL Express North Asia Hub that cost US$175 million to build covers 88,000 square metre and is equivalent to about 13 football fields. It can process up to 20,000 documents and 20,000 parcels an hour.

The company, which acts as the express delivery arm of Deutsche Post DHL, announced it will spend US$132 million to add eight aircraft to service high-demand routes between Shanghai, north Asia, Europe and the United States by 2014.
