KUALA TERENGGANU, July 9 (Bernama) -- Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said regrets the attitude of certain contractors or project developers whose nonchalance for integrity has resulted in failure of state projects.
"Worse still, the projects involved public facilities such as schools, bridges, and sports facilities, among others, some of which have endangered lives.
"Such incidences reveal to us that there are some who would set aside integrity, professionalism and public interest for quick profit," he said in his speech at a four-day Construction and Supply Transformation Seminar and Summit 2012, here today.
The text of his speech was delivered by state Public Utility and Infrastructure Development committee chairman Datuk Za'abar Mohd Adib.
Meanwhile, Malay Businessmen and Industrialists Association of Malaysia (Perdasama) president Datuk Moehamad Izat Emir said the seminar was aimed at creating more skilled bumiputera players in the construction sector.
He said a transformation was crucial to ensure bumiputera entrepreneurs remained competent and competitive against economic challenges.
