KUANTAN, July 9 (Bernama) -- A year six pupil was killed and his pillion rider injured when the motorcycle they were on, rammed into an oil palm tree while exiting a junction in Felda Bukit Goh near here today.

Muhammad Alif Idham Mohd Adahar, 12, from Perkampungan Pak Ngah Aziz, Bukit Goh, succumbed to head injuries while undergoing treatment at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here.

His friend, Muhammad Shahfiq Tuhashim, 12, was given outpatient treatment.

The crash occurred at 11.15am.

State traffic and public security department chief Supt Mohamed Fauzi Abdul Rahim said Muhammad Alif Idham might have lost control of the machine when it struck the tree.

"The uneven laterite road could have contributed to the mishap," he told reporters here today.
