Brother disappointed with Abdul Kadir supporting Pakatan

KULIM, May 7 (Bernama) -- The controversy surrounding former Minister of Information Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, who quits Umno and supports the opposition, has not broken the spirit of his younger brother, Datuk Abdul Aziz Sheikh Fadzir to do his best to gain support for Barisan Nasional (BN).

However, Abdul Aziz, who is Kulim/Bandar Baru Umno chief, also admitted to being slightly disappointed with his brother's course of action.

"He used to advise our siblings to continue to work hard for Umno, but when he faces a problem, he quit the party.

"I consider this a fate and accept his decision with an open mind. As for me, I will continue to work and do my best to fight for the people in Kulim/Bandar Baru through Umno and BN," he told reporters here today.

The controversy surrounding Abdul Kadir, who is a former Member of Parliament for Kulim/Bandar Baru, began when he accused BN of paying between RM200 and RM1,000 to buy votes in the last general election.

Deluged with criticism, he quit Umno and began participating in talks and activities organised by opposition parties, including a rally in the city on April 28.
