Shahrizat attends her last ministerial meeting

PUTRAJAYA, April 6 (Bernama) -- Women, Family and Community Development minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil attended her last monthly meeting at the ministry here today.

She arrived at 4 pm for the closed door meeting and was given a warm welcome by the ministry's staff.

Shahrizat announced her resignation on March 11 following the National Feedlot Corporation case involving her family.

Shahrizat was the first Minister for Women and Family Development in 2001, which was later revamped to Ministry for Women, Family and Community Development by former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

She held the position until March 2008, losing her Lembah Pantai parliamentary seat to Nurul Izah Anwar Ibrahim in the general election that year.

Abdullah appointed her as special advisor with ministerial rank in 2008 before being made a Senator and included in Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's cabinet in 2009.

She is scheduled to attend several ministerial events the next two days before holding a press conference this Sunday, her last day in office.

Meanwhile, met after the meeting, secretary-general of the ministry, Datuk Dr Noorul Mohd Nur described Shahrizat as a fully dedicated minister and said she would be a big loss to them.
