KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 17 (Bernama) -- The organisers of the Saturday debate between MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has decided to provide more seats for the public despite the fact the debate will be aired live on a satellite television channel.
Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) chief executive officer and director Datuk Dr Michael Yeoh said the decision to provide more space at the venue of the debate was made after they received more than 450 requests from the public to watch the debate at the venue.
"We will increase the allocation inside the hall for the public. Initially, it was 200 but now we increased it to 250. Not only that, a big screen will also be set up outside the hall so that those who cannot get the seat inside are able to watch the debate," he told reporters here today.
The debate, in Mandarin, titled "Is the Two-Party System Becoming a Two-Race System?" will be held at the Berjaya Times Square, here, as part of the one-day forum on "The Malaysian Chinese at the Political Crossroad."
The key speakers included the top politicians from the Barisan Nasional components as well as the opposition party.
The Forum and the debate is jointly organised by ASLI and MCA think-tank, Institute of Strategies Analysis and Policy Research (INSAP).
The debate will be aired live on Astro AEC (Channel 301) and repeated at 11pm on Saturday.
