MACC receives report on illegal sand mining in Selangor

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has received the Attorney-General's Chambers investigation report on two Selangor PKR state assemblymen allegedly involved in corruption and illegal sand mining.

The report will be presented to the Operations Evaluation Panel for examination and recommendation, MACC said in a statement here today.

The panel is chaired by former Auditor-General Tan Sri Dr Hadenan Abdul Jalil and supported by seven expert members appointed by the government.

It is inline with the MACC tagline of conducting its duty independently, transparently, and "without fear and favour."

The panel is expected to meet on Feb 23, the statement said.

Blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin claimed that Sri Muda assemblyman Mat Suhaimi Shafie and Batu Caves assemblyman Amirudin Shaari were involved in illegal sand mining.

MACC will also present the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) case and that involving Ariff Fahmi Abdul Rahman, the son-in-law of Kelantan Menteri Besar, to the panel members.
