KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 (Bernama) -- PAS Youth today handed a protest memorandum objecting to the widespread promotion of Valentine's Day in the mass media to the Minister of Information, Communications and Culture, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

The memorandum was handed over by PAS Youth secretary Khairul Faizi Ahmad Kamil to the minister's press secretary Norazli Noh at Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad here as Rais was attending another function away from his office.

Speaking to reporters later, Khairul Faizi said PAS Youth was requesting Rais to monitor and act if there were promotion campaigns through advertisements on television, radios and newspapers to promote Valentine's Day.

He said PAS Youth was worried that such large scale and continuous promotion to celebrate the event on Feb 14 would encourage people especially Muslims to be involved in vice activities.
