Always Be Alert

  1. When walking with friends and schoolmates, avoid taking short cuts or dark alleys.
  2. Bring along a whistle, some coins, phone card so that you can contact your parents or the police when harrassed by a stranger.
  3. If you are being followed or assaulted by someone, shout loudly for help or run to the nearest shop (convenience store, petrol station, book shop, etc) for help.
  4. Be familiar with the use of public phone, always remember the house and your parent's office numbers, neighbour's number and police hotline 999.
  5. Keep a distance from stranger asking for direction or passing vehicle.
  6. When a stranger asks for direction, you can tell them you don't know, and get him to ask other people. Leave immediately afterward. Never go with the stranger anywhere even if you know the place
  7. If a stranger says he has been sent by your parents to pick you up, do not simply go with him. Immediately tell your teacher or someone familiar. Double check with your parents.
  8. Do not get onboard a stranger's car, or receive any gift from him or accept his invitation for a movie or zoo visit.
  9. If you lose your family while walking in the street, stay put and wait for them to come back, or seek assistance from the police and service counters.
  10. Do not take a bus alone at night, or alight at an isolated place.
  11. Watch out for people beside you while riding on a bus or train to protect your own belongings and body.
  12. While riding on a bus after school, use your schoolbag to separate any stranger from having physcial contact with you. In the event of suspicious acts, shout loudly for help.
  13. Stay alert while walking the staircase, and watch out for any suspicious figure getting near you or hiding at the corner.
  14. When approached by a stranger in the staircase, ring the nearest doorbell and talk loudly. Avoid taking the lift alone with a stranger for own safety.
  15. Stand near the buttons when inside the lift. In case of emergency, push the help button or run.
  16. Beware of the emergency escape route and alarm system.
  17. Know the school environment well, and avoid staying alone at a quiet corner.
  18. Do not go to the school too early or leave the school too late alone.
  19. Report to the teacher any person acting suspiciously.
  20. Do not be afraid of rejecting any senior molester. If any of your teachers tries to touch any part of your body, reject him, and tell this to your parents or anyone you can trust.
  21. If you see that your schoolmate is being assaulted, immediately ask for help and report to the teacher.
  22. Tell your family exactly where you are going, and with whom. Always keep in contact with your family.
  23. Avoid talking to strangers.
  24. While walking alone, stay alert of the people around you. If you see any suspicious person or vehicle, stay calm and leave immediately.
  25. Avoid visiting entertainment complexes or activities outside the school such as video arcade, snooker parlour, karaoke, etc.
  26. Do not take suspicious food or drink.
