It's work as usual for Najib during fasting month

PEKAN, Saturday 21 August 2010 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today he was not taking it easy during the Ramadan fasting month because there was much to be done to make Malaysia a developed nation by 2020.

"I work full time during the day, then attend breaking-of-the-fast receptions. At night, I attend functions," he said at the breaking-of-the-fast and handing over of contributions organised by the Umno Youth Enterpreneur Development and Economic Bureau at the Nenasi Mosque, here.

"Our aspiration is not something ordinary. We want our country to be among the developed nations of the world in 10 years," he said.

Najib said the government would not neglect the plight of all the people based on the principle of social justice.

The government would ensure that the nation's wealth was distributed fairly, especially to the less fortunate and the low-income people, he said.

He also said that the peace achieved by the Barisan Nasional (BN) government should be maintained for the people to carry out their religious obligations.

At the event, more than 900 poor people, disabled and single mothers from three villages, Nenasi, Tanjung Batu and Merchong, received contributions from private firms and individuals.
