PENANG, March 21 (Bernama) -- Penang Wanita MCA chief Tan Cheng Liang has announced her intention to contest for a Central Committee (CC) post in the party polls on March 28.
Incumbent Tan, who is also the Wanita national organising secretary, said she will be contesting for a position on the party's highest decision-making body, for the third time.
"After much consideration and observation, I have decided to contest for the post and hope that the CC delegates will support me," she told reporters here today.
Tan, who pledged her support for the party's president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, said she hoped that the CC delegates would vote wisely.
"They should vote wisely as their votes will determine the future of the party. Vote for a leader who is able to unite the party as one entity," she said.
She said there was no point in winning in the party polls but failing to assist the Barisan Nasional in the next general election.
