KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 (Bernama) -- Former MCA president Tan Sri Ong Ka Ting is set to make an announcement in relation to calls for him to contest the presidency in the party's fresh polls on March 28.
There is an intense speculation that he will contest the party's top post but up to now, there is no confirmation on the matter.
"He will issue a statement this afternoon," an aide to Ong told Bernama when contacted but refused to give further information.
If Ong joins the race, it will mark his political comeback after retiring from politics to take responsibility for the party's dismal performance in the last general election.
MCA President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat has announced that he will defend the presidency.
