KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Law Reform Committee will re-study and focus on archaic business and commercial laws that impede business growth and development.
In a statement here today, committee chairman, Datuk Liew Vui Keong, said the government was of the view that such laws needed to be re-studied and updated to ensure that Malaysia became more business-friendly and conducive for creating real growth.
"Top priority will be given to the updating of commercial laws.
"Laws that could create problems to the business affairs in the country will undergo an appraisal for reform," said Liew, who is also Deputy Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs in the Prime Minister's Department.
Liew said he would undertake the task through discussions with the various government agencies that dealt with commercial laws.
"We will work together with other government agencies, as well as the Special Task Force to Facilitate Business, Pemudah, in carrying the initiative," he said.
