KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- All KTMB commuter stations will be fixed with close circuit television cameras (CCTVs) starting this year for security reasons.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) president Dr Aminuddin Adnan said for a start, nine stations with high-risk potential would be installed with CCTVs.
He said commuter stations would also be fixed with WiFi, fans, water coolers, LCD screen and mobile phone chargers at the cost of RM2 million allocation.
The facilities will cater to the needs of commuter train passengers which had risen from 95,000 a day last year to 96,000 this year, he told reporters after launching a KTMB Commuter photography contest and a monthly pass lucky draw here today.
The theme of the photography contest is convivial atmosphere in commuter trains or stations. The closing date is Aug 31.
Thirty winners will be selected every month with top three winners getting souvenirs and cash from KTMB.
