Even God can't help

After struggling for over 100 days, MCA is back to square one: a fresh polls.

What has been done over the past five months?

Is it still unable to find a way out after about six months?

No one admits that party affairs have been idling and no one admits that government affairs have been delayed either.

Parties affairs are indeed operating but the three carriages are heading towards different directions.

Government affairs are as well being implemented but they are not able to concentrate and do well.

They are still having endless of political war of words.

Also, they are still competing with each other, roping supporters in and cheating behind closed doors. It is hard to tell between friends and enemies.

All leaders and party members have been labeled.

From the confrontation between the Ong and Chua factions, to the split of the Ong faction, the leaving of the Liow faction, the dramatic cooperation of the Ong and Chua factions and today's weird situation in which the three factions are having their own axes to grind, there is only one word to describe the MCA party crisis: chaotic!

MCA is chaotic, as well as its wings MCA Youth and MCA Wanita.

The influential MCA Wanita presented women's rights fighter Clara Zetkin a tragic drama on the eve of the International Women's Day. It was a chaos in which they were pulling, dragging and crying during the general meeting.

Meanwhile, the attendance rate for the most representative general meeting was only 25%. The Deputy President, Vice Presidents, MCA Youth Chief and MCA Wanita Chief were all absent. Also, for the first time, the Big Brother of BN was absent while leaders of other component parties could not be seen either. Only United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun and Murut Organisation (UPKO) was there.

Even though many delegates were absent, the fighting spirit was high. The GM no longer keen on discussing issues of the people's concern, even they did discuss, they only touched on it without deep study. Most of the time, the atmosphere was filled with grievances and anger.

Perhaps, President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat could still console himself as not all of his comrades have left him. At least, a total of 603 delegates were still supporting him, allowing him to deliver great speeches, vow to complete the unfinished reform for MCA and hint to defend his position as the president in the fresh polls scheduled to be held on 28 March.

Of course, 25% is not enough to safeguard his throne, but regardless whether it is Ong, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek or Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, none of them will have full confidence without the 25%.

There is no justified reasons for the current chaos in MCA and there is no credibility left. They can only follow the factional boundaries to keep ridiculously shouting at each other and launch all sorts of infighting.

When unscrupulousness becomes the final tool for the struggle, when the chaotic situation turns worse, when they are unable to stop the infighting, the party will end up as a "mess" in which even God will not be able to help it! (By LIM MUN FAH/Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/Sin Chew Daily)
