KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Eight students tested positive for drugs during a random check by the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) on five secondary schools in the Gombak district near here, AADK director-general Datuk Abd Bakir Zin said today.
He said the check was conducted only on 200 students, among them those who were suspected to be smokers, based on information provided by the schools.
"We conducted urine tests on the 200 students and eight of them tested positive for drugs," he told reporters after a visit to the Gombak AADK, here.
Gombak was a hot area which was the target of the AADK in combating drug abuse, he said, adding that 12 residential areas were under surveillance, among them Kampung Selayang Baru, Kampung Laksamana, Bandar Country Homes, Taman Sri Gombak and Kampung Wira Damai.
