Malay contractors got 44 contracts worth RM68 million in Penang

PENANG, Feb 8 (Bernama) -- Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said of 66 state government projects in the past two years, 44 projects worth RM68 million were given to Malay contractors.

The projects were for water pipe works under the Penang Water Corporation (PBA), he told reporters today.

Lim also said that 70 per cent of projects under the Penang Development Corporation (PDC) were given to Malay contractors.

He however did not give the value of the projects.

Lim said that under the open-tender system capable contractors did not have to go abroad to get projects.
