TAIPING: An ancient temple owned by the Northern Perak Kwangtung Association in Taiping boasts a priceless century-old three-legged copper prosperity furnace.

However, the antique has not been given its due appreciation by its owners!

Secured in its place with an iron chain, the antique has been placed outside the gate of the temple for devotees to burn paper banknotes and treasures for their departed ancestors.

About three feet tall, the furnace has exquisite designs carved on its body, along with three large Chinese characters "Ju Bao Lu" which means prosperity furnace.

In addition, there are also words that say the furnace was presented by a group of devotees from Zhaoqing prefecture of Guangdong province in China.

The inscription was dated the 13th year of Guangxu, or 1887, meaning the furnace is over a century old today. (Translated by DOMINIC LOH/Sin Chew Daily)
