TOKYO, Nov 19 (AFP) - Police in Japan said Thursday they had arrested five people on suspicion of brokering jobs without license for Chinese workers, as reports said the five were behind the illegal employment of 200 Chinese.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department said they had arrested two Chinese nationals -- Teng Bo and Zhang Peng, both 33 -- and three Japanese.
Teng and a 47-year-old Japanese man, Masaki Nojima, were suspected of dispatching a Chinese man without the proper visa as a construction worker in Japan last year, a police spokeswoman said.
Zhang and the two other Japanese arrested, Mitsuko Kikuchi, 61, and her 29-year-old son Tomotoshi, were suspected of illegally sending a Chinese woman to work at a Japanese hotel in April, the official said.
Jiji Press news agency said police suspected the five had been involved in arranging illegal employment for some 200 Chinese since September 2007.
The Tokyo police declined to comment on the report.
