Green technology to help sustain Malaysia-China ties

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's pro-business and market-friendly approach will lead more China-based firms to explore the possibility of investing in various sectors here, Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui said today.

Therefore, Chin said, green technology could play a role in sustaining cooperative relationship and knowledge-sharing between the two countries.

"I am confident that green technology will emerge as a new driver for economic growth in Malaysia and that it will also provide the impetus for growth in China," he said in his address at the World Chinese Economic Forum here.

Chin said through the National Green Technology Policy, the application of green technology components was promoted either directly or indirectly to several areas, including foreign investments.

He said the policy would therefore apply and implement green technology effectively in several core sectors such as energy, buildings, water and waste management, and transportation.
