55,635 candidates to sit for STPM examination on Nov 18

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 55,635 candidates will sit for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examination, to be held from Nov 18 to Dec 10, at 758 examination centres nationwide.

A statement issued by the Malaysian Examinations Board (MEB) today stated that the candidates comprised 48,774 people from government schools, private schools (1,632 candidates), private candidates (4,768) state government schools (457) and integrity schools (four).

In case of a disaster, like floods or landslides, and candidates are not able to get to their examination centres, they are advised to go to an examination centre nearest to them and report to the Chief Invigilator there to sit for the examination.

MEB also advised candidates who are down with Influenza A (H1N1) or influenza-like illness (ILI are advised to contact the state or district education office for assistance to enable them to sit for the examination.

The board will open an operations room to handle any unforeseen circumstances which will be open from 7.30am until 6pm from Monday to Friday.

Meanwhile, candidates are advised to bring along their identity cards and examination entry slips to be able to sit for the examination.

Candidates who have yet to receive or have lost their examination slips should surf the MEB website at http://www.mpm.edu.my to print them.
