KUALA LUMPUR: A serious landslide took place at 10th km Jalan Rawang early this morning, resulting in the complete blockage of traffic from Selayang to Rawang. No reports of vehicles buried have been received as of press time.

Rescue personnel from the police, fire & rescue department as well as the 991 civil defence corps rushed to the scene for rescue operatins.

The section of road affected is about 80 metres long and three and a half metres wide. Both directions of the road have been covered in mud.

Residents at Selayang Height heard a screeching sound at about 2.45 a.m. this morning and thought an accident had occured. They later made a police report after learning that a landslide had happened.

Traffic from Selayang to Rawang is completely cut off while that of the opposite direction is not affected.

Motorists travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Rawang are advised to use MRR2 and the North-South Highway. (MySinchew)
