KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will submit its report on the findings pertaining to the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal to Parliament next week, its chairman Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid said today.

"All have been finalised, most probably on Wednesday (Nov 4)or the latest by Thursday. Details (on the report) you can get on that day," he told a news conference at the Parliament lobby.

PKFZ, a transshipment hub built on a 405-hectare site in Port Klang, was embroiled in a controversy after it was revealed that the development cost had shot up from RM2.5 billion to RM 4.6 billion.

Meanwhile, Azmi said PAC would investigate the Rawang-Ipoh dual-track electric train project which also involved large spending.

"Rawang-Ipoh train is the biggest issue after PKFZ, we pick up the issue according to priorities" he added.

An audit carried out between August 2008 and January 2009 found several weaknesses in the project implementation, like delay resulting in the cost to go up, excessive purchase of equipment and acquisition of trains did not coordinate with infrastructure development resulting in the trains not being able to be fully utilised upon completion.

Until December 2008, a total of RM5.77 billion had been spent for the project, which was RM1.43 billon (32.9 per cent) more than the value of the original contract, which was RM4.34 billion.
