Notice on dissolution fake, says former Speaker

IPOH, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Former Perak State Assembly Speaker V. Sivakumar today claimed that he was victim of dirty politics through the spreading of a fake notice stating that Sultan Azlan Shah had consented to the dissolution of the state legislature.

Speaking at a press conference at the DAP office here, Sivakumar denied having issued such a notice.

"I will be lodging a police report on this," said Sivakumar, who is also Tronog assemblymen.

He also furnished copies of the notice.

The notice carrying the letterhead of the Speaker's office and dated Oct 23 2009 informed that a state assembly sitting would be convened at the Heritage Hotel here today for the tabling of the state's 2010 Budget and a motion by Pasir Panjang assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin for the assembly to be dissolved.

It also stated that Sultan Azlan had granted an audience to Mohammad Nizar at Istana Kinta at 3pm today to pave the way for a fresh election to be held in the state.

Sivakumar also claimed that police had used force on Pakatan Rakyat assemblymen who attended the state assembly sitting in Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here today and had confiscated electronic items like cameras, video cameras and laptops.

He further claimed that police had acted roughly on him when seizing the Speaker's robe he was wearing.
