Liow will state his stand on the EGM

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai and some of the central committee members will hold a media conference Tuesday afternoon to clearly state their stands on the party's recent EGM held on 10 October as well as developments after the EGM.

It has been understood that the media conference would also rebuke earlier accusations that they had tried to force party president Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat to resign while offering "insider information" on what happened on the day as well as several days after the EGM.

Some of the central committee members feel they have been wrongly accused of being the "third force" trying to unseat Ong and opposed to the party's unity plan, and have decided to clarify their stands.

Some of the CC members say they would support any unity plan that helps unite and stabilise the party. However, they also insist that any plan should first be discussed in the central committee meeting. (Translated by DOMINIC LOH/Sin Chew Daily)
