KUALA PILAH, Oct 24 (Bernama) -- Members of the public are invited to the 1Malaysia Deepavali Open House 2009 which will be held at the Ladang Siliau field near Port Dickson on Nov 1.

Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said the event, organised by his ministry in collaboration with the Negeri Sembilan state government, is expected to be attended by 8,000 people of various races.

"The national level open house will begin at 2pm and end at 6pm. At the function, we will project 1Malaysia as the bond of solidarity which will also feature programmes from the various races," he told reporters when met after the launching of the exhibition 'Our Ruler' (Raja Kita) and the commemorative stamps and First Day cover in conjunction with the installation of the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir at the Istana Lama Seri Menanti, near here.

He said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was expected to officiate the open house which would also be attended by government leaders as well as those from the non-governmental organisations and community leaders.
