KUALA LUMPUR: No matter how deep my personal trauma is, the most important thing now is to get MCA move forward and stable, said MCA Deputy President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
He said that he will accept any good plan that can stabilise the party while personal gain or loss is only secondarily important.
“MCA cannot keep splitting. If a personal sacrifice can strengthen and stabilise the party and is good for the party, I will always support and accept it,” he said.
Mentioning about being regarded as “the one who was traumatised the most” in the party crisis, Liow refused to make any comment on the right and wrong, as well as other issues like being discredited.
A report pointed out earlier that Liow and Vice-President Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha were late for the press conference hosted by party President Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat Wednesday (21 Oct) as he was not informed in advanced about the content of the press conference.
Liow said that the party position and status that he owned on Thursday (22 Oct) were given by MCA and supported by party members. Therefore, what he can do now is to play well his role as the party's Deputy President and work hard to stabilise and unite the party.
He continued: “The Chinese community does not want to see any more infighting and further split in MCA. We must not continue hurting the party...”
He added that he has a clear conscience and he has “no feeling” on various groundless accusations. Most importantly, the current situation must be stabilised to ensure that MCA is able to move forward. (Translated by SOONG PHUI JEE/Sin Chew Daily)
