KOTA BAHARU, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Mohd Fauzi Abdullah, the victor in the Manik Urai by-election on July 14, took his oath as a new state assemblyman.

The ceremony was held before the Tengku Mahkota of Kelantan Tengku Muhammad Faris Petra Sultan Ismail Petra before the opening of the State Assembly sitting (Budget) today.

The by-election saw Pas candidate Mohd Fauzi, 50, garner 5,348 votes while Tuan Aziz Tuan Mat, 39, of the Barisan Nasional obtained 5,283 votes.

The State Assembly sitting will end next Wednesday.
