UMNO Youth Academy signs MoA to address unemployment

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The UMNO Youth Academy and Atcen Sdn Bhd today signed a memorandum of agreement(MoA) for a programme to reduce unemployment rate in the country.

Chairman of the academy, Khairul Azwan Harun, said the programme, which involved training and replacement of workers, would be carried out with funds from the Human Resources Ministry.

He said the programme involved training as certified contact centre professionals for 300 participants which would begin next year.

"The academy will work with the state and divisional UMNO leaders to identify the candidates to be sent for the training," he told reporters after the MoA signing which was witnessed by UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.

Meanwhile, Yandaro Al Amien Yanizar, who is a member of Atcen Board of Directors, said participants selected for the programme would be attached to the call centre at the company for training.

Currently, there are about 600 call centres in the country, offering 32,000 employment opportunities for the people and the number is expected to increase by up to 17 per cent next year, he added.
