BUKIT MERTAJAM: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has denied he had a personal meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at the end of last month.
"I met him but it was in connection with work in parliament, not personal," he told reporters after voting at Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Penanti in the Permatang Pasir by-election Tuesday.
News web portal The Malaysian Insider reported that Anwar had a personal meeting with Najib at the Prime Minister's official residence in Putrajaya.
Anwar and wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail cast their votes at 8.30 a.m.
The Permatang Pasir state by-election is a straight fight between Mohd Salleh Man, 52, of PAS and Rohaizat Othman, 38, of Barisan Nasional (BN).
It was called following the death of state assemblyman Datuk Mohd Hamdan Abdul Rahman of PAS who died of a heart attack on July 31. (Bernama)
