Let Chin Peng return says Anwar

BANGI: PKR adviser Anwar Ibrahim has join the controvery over Chin Peng by saying the former leader of the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) be allowed to return to Malaysia.

But this did not mean that PKR is supporting the CPM, he said this at the PKR special national congress here Saturday. He added that this merely asking the Government to allow a senior citizen to return home to spend the rest of his life here.

“(It seems) like we have forgiven them all, so how could we not forgive just one man for what he had done?," he said.

Anwar said the gesture was similar to the country’s leaders going to China where it does not mean that the Malaysian government supported the Chinese communist party.

Anwar also said he expected Utusan Malaysia to “twist” his words with his statement on Chin Peng.

“I know Utusan would twist my words on this. I somehow know that their headlines would be ‘Anwar supports Chin Peng,’ or ‘PKR is a new voice for the communists’,” said Anwar. (MySinchew)
