Eli Must Not Quit: Supporters

Elizabeth Wong, who has offered to resign as Selangor exco and Bukit Lanjan state assemblywoman over the nude photo scandal, has received huge moral support in the virtual world.

A quick browse through the Malaysian Insider website has found tonnes of posts mainly rallying behind the PKR assemblywoman.

A visitor says the culprits should be apprehended and punished instead of Elizabeth, a notion that is instantly echoed by many others.

Many have wanted her to stay on her job instead of calling it quits over a plot purportedly orchestrated by BN.

A visitor claims that she should not resign unless she thinks she has done something wrong. Others hope that her resignation simply will not be accepted by the Selangor menteri besar.

"There is no reason to succumb to dirty politicking," a visitor cries out.

Elizabeth's supporters feel that the media should do more than just covering the event. "The media should have the moral responsibilty to support the poor lady and condemn whoever masterminded this whole unrighteous and immoral act."

One of the visitors has said Elizabeth will be the third leader to have resigned over porn scandal--if her resignation is to become official--after DPP Vijendran and Chua Soi Lek.

However, that comparison has drawn protests from a few others who maintain that Eli is innocent, having only slept "unclothed in the privacy of her own home."

Elizabeth has said in her press statement that the incident has been "an insidious and underhanded attempt by certain quarters to smear my reputation... These people have conspired to undermine my credibility... I am aware that the real objective is to discredit Parti Keadilan Rakyat."

This, has led her supporters to outright point their fingers at BN, or to be more specific, former Selangor menteri besar Khir Toyo, for the scandal.
