Penang Pas Youth Protests Holding Of "I-Dance"

PENANG: Penang Pas Youth Friday (5 Dec) protested against the staging of the 'I-Dance' street dancing competition here as it does not benefit society.

Its chief, Mohamed Hafiz Mohamed Nordin, said the 'I-Dance' event supported by the state youth and sports committee at the New World Park not only gave rise to street culture through shuffle dancing but also increased social problems among the younger generation.

In a statement Friday, he wanted the state government to cancel the event in line with the administrative slogan of Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, "Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Mungkar" (enjoining good and preventing evil/wrongdoing).

It is understood that the event organised by Danzity Productions is to promote a healthy way for teenagers to spend their free time.

The early rounds of the competition would be held on 20 Dec at the New World Park while the last round would be on 27 Dec at the Queensbay Mall. (Bernama)
