Regardless whether it is water spinach, vegetable or even Korean kimchi, when they are in the great excitement, do MCA newly-elected leaders ask themselves why they have been elected?

We need to know why some are defeated as well as find out why they are elected.

It is very simple indeed. In Malaysian politics, you may on cloud nine one moment and fall to the ground the next moment. If you do not know why you are elected, then you may lose soon.

You are chosen because you have said or done something right. Many central delegates select the new leadership based on candidates' words and deeds from the past to present.

In fact, 99% of the central delegates cast their votes during the General Assembly shows us that MCA has come to a critical juncture.

MCA must find a way out and the Chinese community must shift to a new paradigm. We have high expectations for the new leadership.

Most winners of the party elections, from Datuk Ong Tee Keat, Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek to other leaders at all levels have their own styles and fighting spirit, with particular emphasis on "outspokenness". Yes, we are looking for such leaders in this era.

During the election campaign, they pledged to carry out reform for MCA, check and balance Umno and correct BN. They are also opposed to Internal Security Act and other outdated policies. They called for the establishment of a more democratic, fair and transparent country.

We believe them and accept them.

Other than MCA central delegates, the Chinese community, as well as other ethnic groups were concerned about MCA party elections. They wondered who would be elected and what they could do for the party. Would MCA successfully transform?

The ultimate question would be: Is MCA worthy of support?

Those who have been elected have gained the position and power as they wished. They must honour their commitments next.
