Let's Keep The Fight Gentlemanly, Ong Reminds Candidates

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan has reminded all candidates vying for posts in party elections to keep the fight gentlemanly.

"I want to emphasise, let's have a gentlemanly fight," he told a news conference after opening the 33rd Wanita MCA Annual General Assembly here today.

He said the party received numerous anonymous letters and text messages attacking and condemning others although there were also positive messages among them.

Ong, who is also the housing and local government minister, said resorting to anonymous letters and text messages to undermine other candidates was not productive.

"(It's better to) just state how good you are. We have 2,402 delegates, so I don't think we need to resort to expensive campaign. You don't have to go around the country yelling and shouting... just concentrate on the delegates," he said. (Bernama)
