KUALA LUMPUR: New MCA Wanita chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun has resolved to woo young members under 35.

She hoped to increase the membership by between 35% and 40% from 418,000 at present.

"Currently, about 30% of MCA Wanita members are under 35. I will strive to increase the membership to enable the movement to look more youthful, vibrant and dynamic," she told reporters after the opening of the 33rd MCA Wanita assembly here, Friday (17 Oct).

She said new members would be provided with training based on their background.

"We will create a conducive environment for new members to pursue their ambitions," said Chew who turned 44 Friday.

On whether MCA will set up a Puteri wing, she said there was no such plan at the moment. (AP)
